Recent NewsAugust 12, 2008Clarification of Refund of Fees ProceduresThe USCIS has clarified its refund of fees procedures. The Adjudicator’s Field Manual, Section 10.10 "Refund of Fees" now instructs petitioners to request a refund by contacting the customer service line or by submitting a written request to the office having jurisdiction over the application or petition. USCIS will then approve or deny the request based on available information. If approved, the USCIS—and not the applicant or petitioner—will complete Form G-266, Request for Refund of Fee. To obtain updates on the status of refund requests, customers will be able to contact the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) beginning October 1, 2008. Eventually, customers will be able to keep track of their interactions with USCIS through personal accounts.
