Immigration & the Economy

In these difficult economic conditions we will track immigration law changes and other events affecting immigration laws caused by such economic climate.  We hope this page will tell the story of how the US economic slowdown is impacting the flow of both immigrants, and non-immigrant visa holders to the US.

2/17/2009   Employ American Workers Act, (EAWA), was singed by the President. The law was enacted to guarantee that corporations receiving Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) funding will not displace US workers by H-1B visa holders.  It treats such corporations as H-1B dependent companies which require that they must make additional attestations on displacement of similarly situated US workers.
